The surf season is October to April, with the swell typically ranging from 2-6 foot. The breaks are very influenced by tide and wind, and we will be using our local knowledge and also just our exploration instincts to find the best waves in the area each day. All the waves break on coral reefs. At high tide there is plenty of water on the reef, less so as it drops.
Most of the waves finish in deep channels but there is a need to be careful on the reef – when there are two swells from different directions it can be easy to get caught inside. Caution is in order when surfing on reef breaks in remote areas like this. Generally if there is a wave available anywhere – we will find it.
The range of breaks allows for high and low tide surfing, and on any given day waves can range from easy walls to heavy, exploding slabs.
