Cape to Cape Explorer Tours specialise in providing memorable experiences in this world-renowned region. Enjoy the insights and discussions that will add a whole extra layer of meaning to your journey – stimulate your muscles and mind!
Best of all, find conditions perfect for your surfing level first time – avoiding the notorious ‘Caves Road Crawl’, that lures inexperienced visitors into a mesmerizing slow drive looking at dozens of surf breaks that aren’t quite right, until finally finding the perfect spot right as the lunch time onshore wind turns the conditions to slop!
Enjoy surfing in this world class location in good company and with peace of mind: safety is our priority. Our fully-trained surf guides carry first aid and state of the art emergency communications equipment.
The Cape to Cape Surf Tour Experience centres on 9 days of surfing a wide variety of surf breaks. In even the largest of swells, participants can escape to more manageable conditions around the ‘Capes’. However, we recommend a series of ‘conditioning’ surfs and activity leading up to your tour – simply being as fit as you can will ensure you get the most out of your trip.
Accommodation is in well-appointed lodgings. Cape to Cape Explorer Tours utilises a selection of accommodation houses, chosen to best suit the make up of each surfing group and the season. Be it our quiet country lodge, cosy forest house or the spacious coastal beach shack, enjoy the convenience and familiarity of returning home to the same base at the end of each walk day.

Powerful world-class reef breaks, perfect points and beach break barrel fests in one the MOST consistent wave locations in the world…
Main Break, Margaret River
From 3 foot to 15 foot, Margaret River Main break sure packs a punch. Although it can be a bit fat and lack luster in the summer south swells, both the left and right can throw top to bottom tubes when the swell is four to eight feet from the west. Truly horror drops over 12 feet, the bubble adds a double up step, and the right is for maniacs only!
On the same reef platform as Mainbreak, Southside offers super bowly lefts and rights when the swell is 2 to 5 foot from the south. Often empty, Southside is a great option for escaping the Margaret’s pack on the perfect days and scoring a few bombs with your mates.
Margaret River Bombie
A quality peak that has several different reef platforms that break on different size swells. From 3 to 8 foot the inside bowl has thick and powerful left and right tubes with a truly hair-raising drops. Above 8 foot plus the peak moves out about 100m and turns into a long right, the best ones doubling up on the inside for a thick backdoor tube section. This peak holds up to 20 foot waves and people have 10’ boards stashed for those once in a blue moon perfect Bombie days. One of Cape to Cape Surf Tour’s favourite hideaways, better train for this one
Another outside reef, situated next to the Margaret River Bombie. Boatramps is more forgiving than the bombie, and has a mid-length, gentle left from 3 to 8 foot. However, once the swell gets over 10 foot the Boatramp comes to life and gives those with large boards and lungs the chance at chasing down some truly cavernous, long almond tubes, EPIC!
Right hand limestone platform that is very protected from southerly winds. A short, bowl of a wave, Smiths often has great pits when the rest of the coast is blown out. For Smiths to be 3 to 4 foot Margaret River Mainbreak will be at least 10 foot plus.
Smith’s Reef big brother, Supertubes is exactly as its name suggests – a great place to practice your tube riding! Powerful west coast swells unload onto the shallow limestone ledge, really testing the very best surfers with its venomous drops and racing caverns. Awesomely beautiful surrounding countryside and an end of day quality coffee at Lamont’s Café all add to the experience!
A series of high quality reef breaks, many of which mirror the big Margaret River reefs, yet with a quarter of the crowd. The best spots can be fickle and hidden from the carpark, this is one place most definitely visited with local knowledge by your side!
A super long wall, South Point offers true protection from the south westerly onshore wind. The take off is over uneven granite boulders, before doubling up on the limestone and granite conglomerate platform that lines the inside section. Though not often classic, the right direction and period swell will make South Point seem like a fun park! This place is all about timing.
Another protected point, Injidup is even more fickle than South Point, though it is more down the line too. Relying on a combination of sand and rock, Injidup is rarely crowded and can be great fun on 3 to 4 meter south swells.
A truly world class wave, North Point offers the type of freight train barrels that most grommets draw on their school files. At 3 to 5 foot the wave is broken up into several playful sections and will eventually shut the rider down. Once it hits 6 foot and above the wave turns into a double up take off, followed by a series of death defying hollow sections. A full on wave with a similar crowd!
Finally, a beach break! Actually this area is littered with high quality tubing beach breaks that can be spitting perfect tubes on there day! Boranup needs at least a 2.5m swell at Margaret River to get going (when it will be 2ft), but the perfect peaks and forgiving barrels are worth the drive. A great spot to pack and picnic and escape to on a hot day!
